Garrett began mixing happy hour cocktails in Freedom, New Hampshire, for his father and other family members at the age of 5. Perfecting the art of simple favorites like the Black Russian and the Screwdriver, Garrett and his sister would mix the drinks and serve. Although of course it wasn't until much later that he developed a taste for spirits, young Garrett took great pride in making the perfect cocktail. Since then he has worked in fast paced clubs and lounges from NYC to Los Angeles. Favorites include Leshko's and Barracuda in NYC, the short lived but wonderful Overlook in Los Angeles as well as Bar 1886 @ The Raymond in Pasadena, CA where he served as Head Bartender and Bar Manager. While at 1886 he was featured in Pasadena Magazine, Pasadena Weekly, The Tasting Panel and The LA Times. After garnering for 1886 numerous “best of” lists and features from National and International publications,Garrett began consulting with Tello/Demarest Liquid Assets. Projects with TDLA include Tom Bergins and Bow and Truss. Also working with Tello, McKechnie is excited for the opening of their new project, “Feed Body and Soul”, a new organic bar and restaurant in Venice Beach, CA.
